About the Institute's Supervision
The Institute for Dependent Mitzvot in Israel is primarily a Torah, Halakhic – applied research body. However, in the subjects that are the Institute's main expertise, the Institute saw a need to bring its experience and expertise of its employees and rabbis to the attention of the public and assure them that the product does indeed meet the Halakhic and professional standards that the Institute has set for itself according to the extent of its experience and the results of the many studies it conducts in each of the fields.
In practice, the Institute's seal can be found in the supervision of the special things that are its field of activity:
A. Nurseries
Supervision of honesty that does not crossbreed with the rider, so that farmers can purchase problematic trees and maintain them from the beginning without fear of crossbreeding.
Nurseries – biennial, supervision of seedlings starting from the stage of planting in pots in the nursery, so that the purchasing farmer can count the years of foreskin starting from the nursery stage. Compliance with this section requires close supervision starting from the nursery stage throughout the life of the seedling in the nursery, at the time of removal. And at all times during planting in the field, when everything is done under close supervision and supervision.
B. Greenhouses for growing vegetables considered free of insects
The Institute has been dealing with insects in plant foods for about 14 years. When the institute's employees acquired a world-class reputation in the field, all stages of cultivation, from the nurseries to the harvesting stage, are accompanied by halakhic supervision. This ensures that the consumer receives the product as free from insects. The institute's team also accompanies the pest inspectors on behalf of each company, including professional recommendations received from rich experience of many years of activity.
C. Vegetable washing companies
The institute's team has worked hard and has even developed unique methods for removing insects that are able to come off during washing, soaking, etc. The institute developed the special machines with world-class experts and engineers for the production of machines in Israel, Europe, and the Far East. In practice, in Israel, the institute's team accompanies every company that deals with washing vegetables, starting from the stage of purchasing the machine. Or alternatively, it helps them upgrade the machine that will be used as a suitable one for washing vegetables. In addition, the institute's team accompanies the crops in the fields themselves throughout the entire growing period, so that they reach the industrial plants free from any concern about insects that do not come off. In washing, and the insects that fall down will arrive in the minimum quantity. In addition, an inspector from the institute accompanies the picking, and the production throughout all stages, and after laboratory tests, the produce is approved for packaging with the institute's seal [or without it when we only provide the service for another kosher committee].
D. Fish breeding ponds
The institute and its team of experts have earned their world name in the field of parasites in fish, to the point that as of today, the institute is the largest body in the world that currently supervises such a large number of fish breeding ponds both in Israel and in the world. To ensure that the treatments in the ponds are carried out religiously in a way that ensures continuous growth without fear of parasites. Before being removed from the ponds, the inspector inspects the removal stage, and signs the shipping certificates that are sent to packing houses, wholesalers, etc.
E. Wholesalers and fish shops
The Institute supervises dozens of marketing locations both in the wholesale sector that markets to stores and fish departments in various places in the country. And in the final stores for the manufacturer.
F. Fish processing plants
A special team of the Institute supervises in many countries around the world the special production of fish without worms of any kind, while developing very unique methods for each type of fish according to the level of infestation in it. Supervision begins from the stage of receiving the fish in the factory until the end of packaging under close supervision. With each package bearing the Institute's "tested" seal that the fish is indeed considered free of worms.
G. Supervision of contributions and tithes in markets and wholesalers
For many years, the Institute's team has been supervising the field of tithes and donations and tithes of the largest wholesale market in the State of Israel, the Tel Aviv Market, now called the Tzrifin Market, and in the "B" and "Sad" markets, we have managed to reach a level of control that was limited to one and a half stores, to complete supervision that fruit suspected of being foreskin will not enter the market, and to the allocation of contributions on the vast majority of produce leaving the market – of course, the responsibility is solely on vouchers and delivery notes that are stamped with a daily stamp. In addition, the Institute supervises wholesalers for the marketing of fruits and vegetables and the fruit departments in the various marketing chains.
H. Processed products without the fear of insects
It is well known that there are finished products in which there is a fear of insects even in the final product, such as seaweed, flour [especially wholemeal flour that can be sifted as it is at home and in industry], ikara [fish roe salad], canned grape leaves, and more. In these areas too, the Institute and its experts have brought us to a situation where there is now a solution for these and similar products. Today, these products can be found with the Institute's seal of "free from insects". It is worth noting that developing the solution for each product takes a long time of research and a very large financial cost until they reach a positive solution for removing insects.
